Do you want to move your domain to other web hosting company? Find at this page tutorials how to do it.

Step 1: planning

You better start planning moving at least a week or two before account in your old place expired. So you have enough time to: 1) registering process in new place (generally 1-3 work days); 2) script/ application web adjustment with new server environment; 3) NS exchange (1-2 days until all refresh).

If your place account too nearly expired, maybe better you extend hosting time in your old place first at least a month , except you doesn't care there will be several days downtime ( example : your account is expired and your website can not access ).

Your attention necessary also given to your domain validity. Better your domain not expired or nearly expired, so as to easy in contact or DSN exchange. Most important for .id domain, because payment process to extend until activation domain need time at least 1-2 work days (if run smooth).

Step 2: register in new place

Some thing need attention here is: you choose big packet that appropriate with your website capacity. Beside html file size and the picture it self, calculate it mailbox e-mail size, database, and log file (that can be big in size) is necessary also. There are some hosting place that calculate log file in quota, so it possible when you move to new hosting place the file be unloading even so packet/quota size is same.

In MWN, log file we not calculate in quota you dont worry about it.

What need your attention again is finishing all administration matters so your new account will not disable again in short time (make second down time, that will angered your visitor).

Step 3: upload & script adjustment

Next step, after you get access account in new place, is uploading your website or move your website content from old place to new place. Then adjustment scripts if necessary, so it run smooth in new place. Then make e-mail account like support@, info@, etc. Don't forget to make data base and fill it with content from old place. In essential, we make anything run first in new place. Generally a new hosting place will provide temporary URL (ex.: http://yourhosting.com.temp.yournewwebhosting.com/) that you can use to see your web site without using it original address (http://www.yourhosting.com/).

Several thing need adjustment or attention is : different path between old server and new server, different software version like perl and PHP, not installed yet perl modul or other library which needed, different time zone in server, etc.

Step 4: NS exchange

This step will trough last after all ready in new place. Generally this is will do by your self (or you can also ask help to your old hosting place). What you need to understand is that this process need time till 48 hours maximum till it completely effective.

Example: a visitor accesses your web site, still heading to your old hosting place. Then you did NS exchange. But this visitor only can see that NS has changed until 48 hours long, that is till software revolver DNS in it ISP refresh it cache. This cache DNS have no connection with cache browser but cache DNS, so even your visitor press refresh/reload in their browser, still they will see old place.

As a note, DNS MWN to all account in all servers is:

DNS1.MASTERWEBNET.COM
DNS2.MASTERWEBNET.COM
DNS3.MASTERWEBNET.COM
DNS4.MASTERWEBNET.COM

To help move faster/ lowest this cache time, you can change a record in DNS your old hosting place so your website IP change it IP to new server IP. In MWN this probably to do, so if you supposing to move from MWN, refresh process will faster.

Conclusion

Generally all move process need time in days, not hours. Because of that need enough planning and not too swiftly. New hosting place also can help so your move process smooth.
